Javier Pena Ibanez and Cristina Sanchez Algarra of "Tri-Oh!". created a series of boxes named Cité Surprise, Cité Surprenante which introduce visitors to all of Montpelier’s secret and forgotten places. Viewers become the protagonists as they are able to hide inside the cubes, which are transformed into kaleidoscopes that whisk them away  to all the secret city spots.

This forms part of a growing yet popular form of art known as Anamorphic designs, where ones perception isn't always the true image. Anamorphic art can also be classified as installation art. 

This is a must read book for any person studying an architectural course, will run your mind through all the small things you had learnt over the years. You might pick up on something that you always wondered about, or change your opinion about something you see when looking at drawings etc.

Sometimes all we as students need, is to feel sane again.

----The Feather Market Hall----

This hall, of which the original plan by Sir Wolfe-Barry of London was incorporated in the later plans of architect W. H. Miles, was erected during 1883-1885. It was opened on 10 December 1885 by the Governor, Sir Hercules Robinson. 

This was originally built as a market for the sale of ostrich feathers and is now used for hosting events such as the UFC 2013, Christmas market etc.

Donkin Street Houses

These 8 terraced houses were built in the 1850's and haven't changed much since then. They were built stepwise down to slope next to the Donkin Reserve in a Victorian Style. The first photo indicates one of few houses that haven't been renovated yet. The second where as in the second photo it is clear how the building has been restored to its original condition, by making use of the same materials and style.

These are one of Port Elizabeth's most significant historical sites as they form part of the Donkin Reserve and its historical development. 

Old Grey Institute, Belmont Terrace, Port Elizabeth

"The building is partly faced in stone with brick lintels over some openings. Areas of the facades are plastered and include Tudor mouldings above the windows. The composition consists of a central double storeyed corps-de-logis with tower and two parall This old building faces the well-known Donkin Reserve with its characteristic Donkin Memorial and lighthouse.

The 1850’s saw a considerable revival in higher education in the Cape Colony. In this revival Sir George Grey, the governor from 1854 to 1861, pl Architectural style: Neo Gothic Collegiate. Type of site: Educational . The establishment of the Grey Institute is closely associated with the introduction of organised education in the Cape Province under the administration of Sir George Grey. The buildings of the Grey Institute are in the neo-Gothic style and form an Essen."

P_E_M_A_D_S Theatre... 

Originally built in the 1850's the theater, this iconic building was the centre for all social activities...any form of performance art could be admired from cabarets, plays, musicals, micro orchestras etc.

The building was revamped in 2012 by Adendorff Architects and Interior Designers. Now seating 254 people,the Athenaeum as we know it is a must see. The artistic foyer immediately grabs your attention. Heartwarming modern interiors with bright coloured seating viewing a picture perfect stage.
